Without doubt one of the finest spots in the Caribbean. Overlooking the golf of Saint-François, L’Orchidea is the playground of chef Arnaud Bloquel. Born in Guadeloupe, he became a passionate gourmet ambassador for the island after training alongside renowned chefs in Paris (Christian Constant, Violon d’Ingres and Cocottes, Joël Robuchon at l’Atelier, then at Cyril Lignac). He then headed home and opened L'Orchidea in 2015, where he creates unforgettable experiences for his diners in an equally unforgettable setting: with sublime views over one of the most beautiful bays in the world, enjoyed from the infinity pool... From high-quality local produce to sought after produce from mainland France, the chef’s ingredients are simply exceptional. Awarded the title of Maître restaurateur in 2015, Arnaud Bloquel loves playing with unusual combinations, such as accras made with bathynomus (deep-sea crustacean), cumin biscuit and herb mousse as an appetizer, which heralds mouth-watering deep-sea langoustine of good size served with pickled vegetables, hazelnut seasoning and an impossibly tasty yam crémeux, before the sweet crowning glory, a Victoria pineapple sorbet served with a condiment of herbs, mint, sage, tarragon and parsley. As you can well imagine, L’Orchidea provides a unique tasting experience, perfectly paired with a fine wine list according to the dishes chosen. There is something to suit every diner at this restaurant: each of the four menus change monthly, meaning lobster connoisseurs are free to indulge themselves, and vegans are also catered for with specially formulated dishes.
